What Makes a Home Feel Luxurious and Personal?
For me, a home feels luxurious and personal when you actually love the things inside it. Not just like them—love them. Every piece should feel like it belongs there, like you chose it for a reason.
I recently redecorated, and I did it differently this time. Before, I’d just buy stuff. I’d see something, think, Oh, I like that, buy it, and later realize, I don’t even want this. But this time, I took my time. I searched. I saved things to my wish list. I didn’t rush.
Now, everything in my home is intentional. I have a modern art book with a bold lip and cigarette on the cover—because I loved the aesthetic. I have a gold book about cocktails because I love making drinks and hosting friends. I even got a gold-trunked elephant because of feng shui. Every single thing? It’s me.
I used to think I needed painted walls to make a place feel luxurious. But now? I get it—white walls, bold art, and statement pieces make a space feel high-end.
Why I Don’t Hang Family Photos on My Walls
Some people love having family portraits all over their home. And that’s fine! But for me? I don’t think it’s necessary anymore.
We have Facebook, Instagram, digital albums—our photos are already stored. If I want to see a family picture, I can pull it up on my phone in seconds. My family even has a private Facebook group where we save memories.
So instead of covering my walls with personal photos, I choose statement art. Art that tells a story, sparks conversation, and makes people stop and think.
The Difference Between a Generic Home and One with Bold Art
A generic home looks like something out of a store catalog. You walk in and immediately know—Oh, that’s from Target. It’s safe, predictable, and forgettable.
A home with bold art? It stops you in your tracks. It makes you ask, Where did you get this? What’s the story behind this piece?
My living room is black and white with bold statement pieces. My coffee table opens up into a hidden bar, which always surprises guests. And then there’s my art.
Why Statement Art Changes Everything
People ask me all the time, Why would I hang a face I don’t know on my wall? And I always say the same thing:
Because it’s not just a face. It’s a story.
The eyes stare directly at you. The tears drip in paint. The lips are bold and unapologetic. My art isn’t just decoration—it’s emotion, expression, conversation.
That’s the difference. A generic home is safe. A home with bold art is fearless.
How My Art Transforms a Space
For me, my art has completely changed my home’s energy. It made my space feel edgy, sophisticated, and like an extension of me. And honestly? That’s what luxury is—it’s not about money, it’s about intention.
When you fill your home with statement art, it becomes a reflection of you. It makes your space feel like yours. And that? That’s real luxury.
