Art isnβt just something you own.Β Itβs something you experience.
Some pieces stop you in your tracksβnot because they match a color scheme, but because they speak to something inside you. They evoke emotions, spark memories, or even challenge perspectives.
But what about the creator? Does the art speak to the artist, too?
When the Vision Speaks
For me, inspiration comes from everywhereβmusic, conversations, a single word spoken by a stranger. One moment, itβs just a thought; the next, itβs an image in my mind that I canβt shake.
Thatβs when the process begins.
I start sketchingβnot in a trained, technical way, but as a way of manifesting the vision in my head. I believe deeply in manifestation, and so much of my art is born from that energy.
And yes, my emotions play a role. Joy, sadness, anger, reflectionβall of it finds its way into my work. Art becomes an outlet, a way to translate what Iβm feeling into something visual and tangible.
I see my work as a reflection of who we are as peopleβmulti-layered, complex, ever-evolving. Thatβs why my puzzle imagery is so important. We donβt erase our past selves; we add layers. We are built from every experience, every emotion, every moment of growth.
And thatβs when a piece truly speaks to meβwhen I see those layers take form in a way that feels undeniable.
The Beauty of Imperfection
People often ask: When do you know a piece is finished?
The honest answer? I never do.
No artist ever truly feels like their work is complete. We examine every inch, noticing flaws no one else would see. But my art isnβt about perfectionβitβs about being unapologetically real.
I intentionally embrace imperfection in my work. Cracks, rough edges, visible flawsβbecause thatβs what makes us human. Our struggles, our scars, our journeysβthey are proof of survival, of transformation.
So when do I know itβs time to let go?
When I can step back and see that it looks perfect from afarβeven though I know the discrepancies exist up close.
Because thatβs life. Thatβs us. Thatβs art.
Why Collectors Are Drawn to One-of-a-Kind Art
Collectors connect with my work for different reasonsβbecause art is personal.
- Some seek true exclusivityβa one-of-a-kind piece that no one else will ever own. For them, art is a luxury statement, a symbol of individuality and prestige.
- Others are drawn to the artistβs journeyβthe struggle, the growth, the raw creative process.
- Some connect with the message of the piece, relating it to a moment in their own lives.
And thatβs the beauty of one-of-a-kind artβitβs more than decoration. Itβs a reflection of the collector, their experiences, and their interpretation of the work.
Once a piece leaves my hands, itβs no longer just my story. It becomes part of theirs.
Art as a Time Capsule: A Reflection of Our Era
I want people to remember my work not just for its aesthetics, but for the time in which it was created.
We are living through a deeply divided eraβan era of racial injustice, political turmoil, and fear-based narratives disguised as "social norms." These arenβt just headlines; theyβre realities that shape the way people move through the world, especially as a Black artist.
My work is a response to that.
One day, I hope someone will look at my art in a world where these divisions no longer exist and say:
"Wow, during that time, they had to be so many things. They had to be fully realized human beings because society didnβt allow them to be anything less."
If my art can serve as a time capsule, a marker of resilience, a testament to survivalβthen Iβve done my job.
Gone Forever⦠But Made to Last
Every piece I create is one-of-a-kind. No reprints. No copies. Once itβs sold, itβs gone forever.
And while that creates urgencyβbecause once itβs gone, itβs truly goneβit doesnβt mean it disappears.
I create my work on aluminum metal, a medium that ensures longevity. I want my art to outlive me. I want it to be passed down, to find itself in galleries, to stand the test of timeβjust like the greats before me.
Thatβs not just a hope. Thatβs a manifestation.
True Luxury: Owning What No One Else Can
We live in a world of mass productionβwhere things are easily replaced, copied, and reproduced. But true luxury isnβt about whatβs trendy. Itβs about whatβs rare.
Thatβs why my work is one-of-a-kind. No reprints. No copies. Once itβs sold, itβs gone forever.
Because art isnβt just about owning somethingβitβs about connecting with something. Itβs about finding a piece of yourself in someone elseβs creation.
And that is the power of art that speaks.
