Presenting Elegance: Hanging Metal Art Using a French Cleat
Elegance is not solely found in the artwork—it resides in how the piece is displayed. At Milton Wes Art, we use a premium French cleat mounting system for Corey Wesley’s aluminum metal prints, ensuring refined presentation and secure installation. Whether you're an art connoisseur or a discerning designer, follow the steps below for a confident gallery-style install.
What You Will Need
- French cleat (included with your artwork)
- Stud finder
- Painters tape or pencil for marking
- Bubble level
- Drill & screws (use wall anchors if no stud is found)
- Measuring tape
- Soft microfiber cloth
Step 1: Choose the Perfect Wall
Factor in light, room function, and mood. Corey Wesley’s metal artworks are designed to hold space—make them focal points in areas where their energy can resonate.
Step 2: Mark with Intention
Use a stud finder to locate optimal support. If unavailable, prepare for wall anchors. Mark your desired center point—typically 57–60 inches from the floor, at eye level. Use a level to ensure horizontal accuracy.
Step 3: Secure the Cleat
Align the wall-side cleat to your markings and screw it into place, confirming it is flush and solid. This step provides the backbone for a seamless “floating” presentation.
Step 4: Hang with Confidence
Tilt the artwork forward slightly and rest it onto the cleat. Lower gently until it clicks into place. Adjust for level, then step back and let the visual impact settle in.
Step 5: Finishing Touches
Wipe the surface gently with a microfiber cloth. Remove fingerprints or dust to let the metal gleam. This isn’t just installation—it’s activation.
Care Tips for Your Metal Art
- Routine care: Dry microfiber cloth for dusting
- Light dirt: Damp cloth with water or diluted mild soap
- Avoid: Harsh chemicals or rough materials
- Storage: Indoors, away from sunlight and heat for vibrancy preservation
Why the French Cleat?
This gallery-standard method distributes weight evenly, prevents wall damage, and creates an elegant floating illusion. Trusted in high-end galleries—and now, in your home.
